NHS 111

A free NHS phone and online service for urgent medical help. Call 111 or use the NHS 111 website when you need help now and it is not a 999 emergency.

NHS 111 is for urgent medical help when it is not a life-threatening emergency, for example when your GP GP Your family doctor. For many families the GP is the first person to talk to, and the person who refers your child on to a specialist. Read the full definition of GP surgery is closed and you are not sure what to do. You can call 111 free of charge, or use 111 online. In Scotland the 111 number is answered by NHS 24, and Wales has NHS 111 Wales. Northern Ireland does not have a 111 service: contact your GP, or the GP out of hours service when the surgery is closed. In an emergency, always call 999.
