All of this site is about children. That is why the strongest protections apply. This page sets out the rules we hold ourselves to. And what happens if we are worried about a child's safety.
Safeguarding principles
The child's interests come first
We collect and use data about a child for one reason only. It is to help the adults around them understand and support them. We follow the spirit of the ICO's Age Appropriate Design Code. The child's best interests come first, ahead of any business interest.
Parents hold the account, children don't
Assembly is built for parents, carers and professionals. Children don't have accounts, and we don't message them. We only build the picture of a child that their parent asked for, and nothing else.
Not a diagnosis, and clear about it
Assembly builds a picture of strengths and needs. It doesn't diagnose, and it says so wherever a parent might wonder. If a profile shows that a professional could help, we say that too, plainly.
If a child may be at risk, we point to help at once
Something in a chat may suggest a child is at risk. Then Assembly's job is to point you to help, not to counsel. We show urgent help (999, NHS 111, Samaritans) clearly, right there and then.
The least data, held with the most care
We ask for the least data a feature needs. Children's data is never used for adverts or to train AI models. And everything on our security page applies twice over here.
